Shakespeare in the Squares – The Tempest – CANCELLED

Shakespeare In The Squares
Thursday 9th July 2020 – this year’s performance has been cancelled.

An email from Shakespeare in the Squares

  • “This year’s production of The Tempest, has been cancelled following Government advice this week.
Even if (as we all hope) the virus has reached its peak before June and the advice changes, we think a lot of people will remain nervous about public gatherings and we may not get the audiences we need.
More importantly, we feel it would be irresponsible to put the actors and crew at risk during the audition and rehearsal periods which are scheduled to take place over the next couple of months.
We are absolutely determined to be back next year with the same production of The Tempest and look forward to performing in Elgin and Arundel Gardens once again.
Thanks as ever for your support and please thank your committee as well.  We are so sorry not to be performing in your wonderful Gardens this year, but we will keep in touch.  Meanwhile, I hope  you and your family and friends remain safe and well.”
